If you’re looking for things to do in Medway as an adult, away from the usual cinema-and-a-meal, Forrester’s Pottery in Rainham runs a relaxed pottery painting evening every Thursday. We’re right in the heart of Medway and an easy trip from Gillingham, Chatham, Sittingbourne or Maidstone.
Why is pottery painting a good activity for adults?
Getting creative is fun for all ages. We don’t always allow ourselves the time as adults, but finding an activity that lets your brain switch off from phones, computers and the general hustle and bustle of adult life for a bit, a calming, mindful session can be just what you need to bring some serenity back into your week. Customers often find the time flies, because they’ve been enjoying the session and so engrossed in what they are making.
Forrester’s Pottery Painting Studio provides a warm, inviting space for you to get creative with a brush, some paint and a ceramic piece or two of your choosing from our large selection of pieces.
Can adults come alone to paint?
Absolutely. Adults can come alone and enjoy the peace of simply escaping into their own mind and getting fully immersed in the session. Equally, couples and groups really enjoy coming together to spend some quality time doing a thoroughly enjoyable activity.
Do you need to be creative to enjoy pottery painting?
If you are not overly creative but enjoy the idea of making something unique, we have some stencils, stamps and other tools to help you create your masterpiece, and our team will always offer you some helpful tips or suggestions 😊
What can adults paint at Forrester’s Pottery?
We have a large selection of pieces to choose from in our studio, plates, bowls, figurines, moneyboxes, mugs, teapots to name a few! We have smaller items and much larger items. Our most popular items are plates and vases. You can paint the patterns on some of the items or choose a blank item and create your own unique designs and we are always amazed at how many different designs one ceramic piece can be made into!

If you are celebrating a birthday, planning a hen party, team-building activity, baby shower or just want a get-together with friends, Forrester’s Pottery Painting Café is certainly a lovely place to be. You can book your bespoke party or event for a date and time that suits, including evening bookings.
Our team will be on hand to guide you throughout your session. The best part is that you get to take home a piece of your evening, a lasting reminder of the time you spent creating, chatting and making memories.
Are there regular sessions?
Our adult pottery painting session runs from 6:30pm to 9pm each Thursday. We also hold workshops throughout the year, which you can find and book on our workshops page.
